Before becoming an Olympic modality, Artistic Swimming was, literally, something belonging to cinema. Over the years its qualification and competition systems were refined, until it became part of the Olympic sports. It is one of the few sports limited only to women, who compete in solos, duets or teams of eight, performing compulsory and free figures in a pool, to be evaluated in terms of technique and creativity by judges.
