Technical Information

The Sport

It is a Japanese martial art. The outfit used in judo is called judogi, and with the belt (obi), forms the personal equipment necessary to practice it. During the combats, mats of 2×1 meters and 5cm thick called tatami are placed on the floor, to avoid getting hurt when one of the opponents is falling on the floor. The objective of Judo is to bring down the opponent using their own strength against them. You can win in 4 different ways: the first is knocking down the opponent on his back (tachi waza), you can also win by immobilising the opponent on the ground with his back on the tatami, having your opponent disqualified by the referee or winning the combat by points.
